The Ancient Minerals® Magnesium Oil ORIGINAL (formula) contains a higher level of magnesium for different health issues.

The Ancient Minerals® Magnesium Oil ULTRA (formula) has a lower concentration of magnesium but contains the addition of MSM, an organic sulfur compound from OptiMSM®. When applied topically, MSM enhances tissue permeability and may facilitate a more efficient update of magnesium ions. DIRECTIONS FOR USE

First-time users of Magnesium Oil

Apply a small area on your legs or arms to see if you are sensitive to magnesium oil.

It is normal to experience slight itching or stinging during initial use which subsides during the absorption process.

For a lighter application, the magnesium oil is water-soluble and can be diluted with pure water to form a lower concentration for a lighter application. We recommend starting with a 1:1 ratio but the solution can be diluted even further.

Where should I apply magnesium oil?

Apply to clean skin liberally.

To maximize absorption: Recommended areas are the large areas of skin such as the torso, legs, and arms.

Avoid sensitive areas and mucus membranes.

Do I let the magnesium oil dry or rinse it off after application?

For optimal absorption, leave the magnesium oil for 20 minutes. After this time, you may let it stay on your skin or if you prefer, you may rinse or wipe off the product.

FAQ

How is this different than Epsom salts?

Ancient Minerals® Magnesium Oil Sensitive Plus is made from magnesium chloride. Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate.

Although both contain a form of magnesium, magnesium chloride is much better suited for topical application. Magnesium chloride is the best choice because of its clinical and pharmacological effects, and its lower tissue toxicity as compared to magnesium sulfate.

Magnesium chloride is more easily assimilated, and therefore more bioavailable or absorbed and utilized by the body. Whereas magnesium sulfate is not as easily absorbed and utilized in the body.
